What we collect

When you use BILTD, we collect the following information:

• Your postcode and address — used to look up your property details (property type, conservation area status, listed building status, and Article 4 directions) from government datasets.
• Your answers to the checker questions — used to generate your permitted development assessment. These are stored temporarily in your browser session and are not linked to your identity.
• Your email address — only if you choose to sign up for updates. We will never email you without your consent.

How we use it

We use your information solely to provide the permitted development checking service. Your address data is sent to government APIs (OS Places, Historic England, local authority datasets) to retrieve property designations. Your assessment is generated in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers.

What we don’t do

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across other websites.

Cookies

BILTD uses a session cookie to keep your answers as you move through the checker. This cookie is deleted when you close your browser. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
